Dr. JOHN PIETILA,
DC, DACNB
John Pietila graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic
in 2003 and, in the years since, has logged several hundred hours
of specialty training in Applied Kinesiology, Sacral Occipital
Techniques and Neurology. In January 2005, Dr. J, as he is fondly
called by virtually everyone who knows him, graduated from the
Carrick Institute of Neurology, earning the distinctive honor
of Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB).
Dr. J's Philosophy
It is the job of the muscle to stabilize the joints of the body. It does
this by absorbing force. Each time an action occurs... running, jumping,
throwing a ball or falling down, etc... force is caused to enter the
body. When force enters the body, it should be absorbed by the muscle,
and the joint will be stabilized.
Muscles are facilitated (turned ON) and inhibited (turned OFF) by the
brain and reflexes. When a muscle is inhibited, it is incapable of absorbing
force. Force entering that area of the body will not be absorbed and
will be transferred to other areas, such as tendons, ligaments, discs,
cartilage, meniscus, labrum, etc. These structures are not made to absorb
force. As force enters these structures, they start to become irrittated,
start breaking down, and eventually tear or herniate.
By using Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing), I am able to
determine if the muscle is facilitated or inhibited. I can use
this information to correct the cause of the muscle weakness.
Once the muscle becomes facilitated, the force will begin to
be absorbed properly and will not be transferred to the other
structures.
At this point, the patient is ready for ARP therapy, and then Ultra Fit
training.
This technique is an excellent way of preventing injuries from occuring...
by isolating muscle weakness and fixing the cause before injury occurs.
